From the eye catching sign hanging above the door, to the glass table tops and formally placed silverware, Alice’s Tea Room & Miniatures offers something rather unique to Main Street Saint Charles.
“ It’s just a good place to find a smile and a warm welcome,” manager of the Tea Room, Toni Adams, said.
There are many small cafes along main street , but none that measure up to Alice’s Tea Room. For over 15 years the cafe has been offering hand made homestyle cooking for a reasonable price. The menu ranges from classic sandwiches to soups. What The Tea Room is known for is their “ Tea Room Trio”, consisting of a sandwich, homestyle side, and a beverage. The Tea Room also serves, spoiler alert, tea. Offering a separate menu consisting of only tea, choices range from Peach Tea to Jasmine.
“ Our food is served in a very unique way,” Adams said. “ Our sandwiches and soups are served to catch the eye.”
Along with homestyle cooking, Alice’s Tea Room is connected to their own gift shop called Through The Looking Glass. Glass cases line the walls with dollhouses and mini furniture. The store is full of miniature nic-nacs appealing to all ages.
“ It’s interesting to look at all of the miniatures,” gift shop employee and Tea Room server, Autumn Wicken, said. “ The attention to all the tiny details is amazing.”
The Alice in Wonderland themed cafe and gift shop offer a memorable. peaceful experience. The cafe offers a warm welcome to visitors of all ages.
“We think we have a lot to offer”, Adams said. “ The Tea Room is just really a lovely place to feel transported back to your childhood.”
