The FHN Varsity football team will be facing off at the Fort Zumwalt East Lions tonight at 7 pm.
“Last year we lost to them by not too much but my past year on freshman and JV we beat so I think we’ve got a good chance against them,” Wide Receiver and Free Safety Jake Viehman said.
On Aug. 22, the Knights played Vianney High School and for Howell North’s first home game ending with a score of 42-13, with Vianney taking the win. Varsity Coach Brandon Gregory expects the players to learn from the game and defeat the East Lions.
“I’m expecting our guys to bounce back this game,” Varsity Coach Brandon Gregory said.” Just like in real life when things don’t go your way, you have to do things different to get a better result.”
Tonight will be East’s home opener and Stats Manager Zach Young plans on the Knights to be victorious and score more against the Lions than they did Vianney.
“The team is going to try to shut down their quarterback and on our offense, they are going to try to move the ball and capitalize off field positioning and score more,” Young said.
In this game, the team will try different strategies and attempt to run more plays throughout their offense and defense to defeat the Lions. The Knights are going to need change their gameplan to win East’s home opener.
“We are going to change up our offense and try to complete more screens and change guys around trying different positions,” Viehman said.
