On Sept. 5, The Invitational Girls Golf tournament took place in Troy at the Incline Village golf course. This was a massive
tournament with several schools from all districts competing with only the top five girls from each school. Julz Kaminski, Maleya Schmidt, Hannah Willett, Taylor Johnson, and Jessica Qian represented North at the invitational.
“It felt so good to be eligible for this tournament,” senior Maleya Schmidt said. “It shows that the work I have put in is paying off.”
The day began with the tee off at 8:00 am against two other girls in and out of the district. The girls played a full 18 holes then had a lunch break.
“After the long golf game, I was excited to finally eat food and wait for the standings of the teams,” sophomore Taylor Johnson said.
The competition ended around 2:00 pm. The girls found out what their personal scores and team scores were and how they did against the other schools. Awards and medals were handed out to the winners.
FHN took third out of 11 teams. Kaminski got a score of 96, Schmidt’s score was 102, Willett’s score was 97, Qian had a score of 113, and Johnson got a score of 117; which added to a grand total of 408 for the team.
“I really enjoyed seeing my team do well, especially in a big tournament,” Johnson said. “It makes us look competitive.”
