The Francis Howell North Band competes on Saturday, Sept. 13, against Belleville East and O’fallon Township for their first competition of the year.
“I am excited for the competition because it will be fun to hangout with my friends all day. I think we will do really well because we have worked really hard,”percussionist Hannah Weber said.
According to Weber, the band has prepared a lot for this competition. They practice everyday and do a lot of reps of each performance. Each band first competes against 4 other bands in their class and then overall. Weber predicts that the Knights will do well because they are put in a class dependent on size of band so even though they are small they still work hard to perform well. Awards from the competition are given to classes and then to the overall winners.
“I am most excited about performing my solo and hanging out with friends. I think we will do good because we practice a lot,” said flutist Rachel Leimkhuler.
Upcoming competitions for band are a competition on saturday, Sept. 20, at St. Charles West and a competition at CMSU in Warrensburg.
