Just like last year and all years in the past, this year’s homecoming dance is run and sponsored by student council. The sponsors of student council are English teachers, Shelly Parks and Jani Wilkens. This year theme is Fire and Frost and the dance will be on Sept. 27 from 7pm to 10pm.
“Our student council kids are really working hard to make it a good dance,” Parks said.
Ticket sales began on Sept.17. Unlike like years past where students could buy “early-bird” ticket for $15, this year, regular tickets are being sold during lunch for $20. This year they are also trying something new with ticket sales, electronic sales.
“I think it is really cool how they are using electronic sales now because it shows how much technology is starting to become a bigger influence in schools around america, and I think it’s easier and more efficient than the typical physical written records,” sophomore Maddie Mitchell said
The rules and behavior expectations are the same as usual. Students are expected to behave and dance in a respectful and appropriate manner. Students are also expected to dress appropriately and follow the regular school dress code.
“I think that dress codes and rules at high school dances are very much called for,” Junior Emma Hale said. “If it weren’t for dress codes, girls would go in very inappropriate dresses and boys may even dress inappropriately. And for the rules on dancing, I think they should not be as strict, but some of the dancing can get rather provocative.”
