This week’s runner up – Courtney Freeman. Because of schedule conflicts, the first place winner, Kent Stover, wasn’t available for interview and will be on a poll again later this semester.
Courtney Freeman is a dedicated English teacher here at FHN. She Teaches English 1 and Pre AP English 1. She focuses on helping kids reach their maximum potential each day. She enjoys teaching high school freshmen. For the last five years, she has taught only freshmen.
“Some people think I’m crazy,” said Freeman. “I love sending them off, to their 10th grade year and beyond, and having the opportunity to see them grow into young adults who have such an amazing future ahead.”
She loves that she never has the same experience twice while teaching. She loves seeing her students discover where they are academically and helping them set goals that allow them to reach what they set out to accomplish.
“Every day, every hour, every class, every student, every lesson, every discussion, and every experience, they are all unique,” said Freeman.
Freeman’s favorite hobby outside school is spending time with her family. She has two children, Easton, 3 and Ellie, 5. According to her, her children keep her world together.
“They are my favorite human beings and they bring so much joy, laughter, fun, spontaneity, and wonderful chaos to my life,” said Freeman.
Freeman is also currently training for a 5k challenge with some of her friends. They run five kilometers, five days of the week, every week.
“No matter how small or great the victory, no matter how small or great the task, we all, teachers and students alike, should be growing and learning every single day,” said Freeman.
