Free Music Friday: Topshelf Records 2013 Sampler

Even though it’s from 2013, this week’s installment of Free Music Friday is the Topshelf Records 2013 Sampler. I think it’s still a valid entry because it’s a solid 78 tracks from 78 different bands. Some of the more popular bands on this sampler are Modern Baseball, Tigers Jaw, Pianos Become the Teeth, and Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate). My favorite song on the sampler is “Snack Attack” by A Great Big Pile of Leaves.

Day 2

On Oct. 7, Ice Nine Kills released a heartbreaking song and video titled “Jonathan (Acoustic)”. The song is about their friend Jonathan who suffers from a mitochondrial disease that is making him go blind. It focuses on the daily hardships Jonathan is going through and how he’s preparing to lose his sight completely.The video features Jonathan himself talking about his struggle and how his life has been changed.
