On Friday Oct 10, the varsity girls volleyball team will go up against Fort Zumwalt East at home at 6 p.m. Last year the girls played FZE in districts and beat them so they are feeling very confident in getting another win against them.
“I am very confident that we will win by getting kills and having a strong defense,” junior Meghan Mitchell said.
The game plan for this game is to have the girls focus more on ball control and getting all their serves in. Player Sam Alexander believes that the key to winning is to keep up the energy and not stop communicating with each other while on the court. The girls also believe that pulling believable fakes will help them succeed in getting their win.
“There’s nothing specific that we really need to work on but if we work together as a team and keep up with what we’re doing I think we’ll get this win,” Lauren Krutez said.
Since the season is almost over, the underclassmen and juniors are sad to see their beloved seniors, Jessica Allison and Alexis Harrell, leave.
“I feel proud of myself for sticking with it all four years and accomplishing all that I have but I’m also going to miss the girls so much it makes me nervous to leave,” senior Jessica Allison said.
The girls are also focusing on ending the season strong. The last two games before districts are against Francis Howell High School and Eureka.
“I’m going to continue working hard and playing to my full potential until the seasons over,” Mitchell said.
