Boys Basketball Season
Starting this week the varsity boys basketball teams will hold their first practices. After tryouts last week, the team looks to prepare for the upcoming season. This years
team includes six seniors and four juniors. The team hopes to improve on last years 17-11 record. Also the team wants to advance farther in the playoffs after losing in the first round of districts last year to Fort Zumwalt North. They will open the season at the St.Charles West Tournament on December 8. Last year the team finished fourth in the tournament, and want to improve on that ranking. Check out the schedule for the rest of the season here.
“We have high expectations coming off last season and we’ll use hard work and perseverance to reach those expectations,” senior point guard Gabe Grote said.
Girls Basketball Season
Coming off a District Championship, the varsity girls basketball team looks to repeat this year. The team will be lead by last years lead scorer, junior Austine Pauley. She hopes to again lead her team to sectionals, where last year they lost to Fort Zumwalt West. The team is looking to improve on last years 11-14 regular season record, which did not reflect the talent of the team and their District Championship. They will open their season with a tournament at Orchard Farm on December 1. Last year the team won this tournament, and look to do the same this year. Wrestling Season
After sending two wrestlers to the state championship a year ago, the Howell North wrestling team looks to have another solid season. With practices starting this week the team looks to improve their skills and techniques, in hopes of sending more wrestlers to state. With all of the work they put in during the off-season, they have a good feeling going into this new season. Their first match is on Wednesday Dec. 3, against St.Charles West.
