Hats for Anthony took place on Fri., Nov. 14. This hat day was put on by Students for FHN because a student from Harvest Ridge Elementary School was hit by a car while trick-or-treating, and the medical bills are mounting for the family. According to an email from Assistant Principal Erin Steep, during first hour alone, the FHN community donated roughly $455 for Anthony and his family.
“I plan to participate in Hats on for Anthony because I feel really bad about the situation and I really want to help out as much as I can because, hopefully not, but if something like this ever happened to me I would want people to help me too,” junior Jenna Cool said.
Anthony was trick-or-treating in downtown St. Charles, when he was hit by a car. Anthony ran in between two parked cars, onto the street and was hit. Fortunately, there was a fire truck right behind the car that hit Anthony, so he was able to get immediate medical attention. “Hats on for Anthony” originated from Harvest Ridge’s Head Principal, Brien McCarthy.
“I hope people can give generously because he is a member of the Knight family, and the Knights help take care of each other,” Steep said.
Steep hopes FHN can raise almost or at least $500 because that would help drastically with medical bills. FHN is not the only school helping, Harvest Ridge Elementary and Henderson Middle School are as well.
