On Dec. 3, FHN’s DECA members went to Harvest Lanes for the first FHSD-wide DECA Bowl in cooperation with the other two high schools.
“The DECA Bowl is something we started this year where all the kids from all three Howell schools could meet before competition and meet new people and it is also a good way to celebrate the holidays,” DECA sponsor Lori Moore said.
With a total of 25 kids from FHN, 20 kids from FHHS, and 6 kids from FHC, everything went turned out well and those who came enjoyed themselves, according to Moore.
“The night was successful because we got to meet new people from different schools,” junior Charlie Brauch said.
The events consisted of an ugly sweater contest, bowling and getting to meet new people. The winner of the ugly sweater contest was junior Zoe Seems, winning a $10 gift card to QuikTrip.
“It was a time out of the school environment where you get to hangout with your DECA friends,” Seems said.
The evening was filled with bowling and laughter, but the students felt they could have done more to have the three schools interact.
“I think it would have been better if they would’ve planned something to get the three of the schools to interact with each other,” Seems said.
Since this was the first year doing it not many of the students showed up because they weren’t sure how it would go. But the kids that did show up said they had a great time with the others.
“I would for sure go again because it was a lot of fun to just go out and hang out with friends and meet new people,” Brauch said.
