The boys Varsity hockey team played against Fort Zumwalt East on December 12. The team won with a score of 4-2. The team was down in the first period 2-0 but came back for the win.
“It was a good win, we should have won by more but we just could not find the net,” senior Brycon Johnson said.
Johnson scored two goals in the second period to tie up the game. According to Johnson it was a pretty evenly matched game for awhile and was the most exciting game to play in so far this season because the scores were so close up until the end.
“I think that game will turn our season around, we should have won and we did,” senior Bryan Fuhler said.
The team had over 50 shots on goal throughout the whole game. Players said they were confident in winning but this was the closest game ever played against East.
“Saying that we had 50 shots on goal is not a bad thing, we just need to focus on actually getting them in the goal. We need to take more shots that have a better chance of going in,” Fuhler said.
According to senior Brennan Buerck they came out a little flat and that’s why they let in two goals in the beginning. The team picked it up in the next two periods after that.
“Overall I think it was a well deserved win, I think we proved we were the stronger team,” Fuhler said.
