For the second time ever, skateboard hub, The Berrics, has held its annual “Run and Gun” contest. Run and Gun is simple: Skaters get The Berrics to themselves for 24 hours to film a 60 second skate video. The video has to be one take and the winner gets $25,000.
Last year, the winner was Felipe Gustavo. This year, the park has been remodeled and there were many new additions to the Run and Gun lineup. The winner was, again, Felipe Gustavo.
Gustavo was the only skater to use almost the entire 24 hours of park time. Most skaters took six to nine hours. Gustavo used up until the last hour due to going home and sleeping after a long day of not getting his part perfect. His persistence paid off.
He started his run off with a massive switch-flip down the three block. He then goes up the quarterpipe, rocks back to his regular stance, rides down to the ledge, does a tre-flip to crooked grind, and then does a kickflip to crooked grind on the same ledge. He keeps this energy up through his entire part until his banger, which is a huge nollie kickflip to crooked grind down the eight stair hubba. Check the full run below.

Another feature of the Run and Gun contest is the Best Trick section. The winner of this gets $1,000. Last year, the winner was Madars Apse with a wallie jam 50-50 down the seven stair rail. This year the $1,000 went to Trevor Colden with a half-cab crooked grind 180 down the eight stair hubba. To see Colden’s run, check out the link below. RUN & GUN – Trevor Colden
All in all, it was an impressive contest featuring some incredible skaters and hopefully Berrics frequenters will see more contests like this in the near future.
