Ecology Club was hosting a hat day on Feb. 12 at FHN to raise money for the endangered sea turtles, but it is being rescheduled. Students can donate $1 and wear a hat for the school
day.
“I really like hat day because it is a cool way of changing up your outfit every once in awhile. The money is also going to a really great charity,” Ecology club member Carl Treas said.
Due to recent events the hat day will have to be pushed back to another date because of another fundraiser being help by the girls basketball team. The date is yet to be decided.
“We really want people to participate in this hat day, that is why we decided to have it a later date so kids won’t have to try and pick one or the other,” Ecology club member Allison Weyhrich said.
Ecology Club picked to donate to The Foundation for Sea Turtles for many reasons. This foundation believes that the turtles should never be caught in a net, or stranded on the beach trying to find their way home. Another reason is because they all believed so strongly in the cause even though they do not live near an ocean.
“We chose a charity raising money for sea turtles because they are cute and going endangered,” Ecology Club member Jacob Pardo said.
