Day 1: Facebook Petition
Facebook is a huge social media platform and an incredibly convenient and helpful tool for bands to reach their fans and followers. These bands use Facebook to tell information about upcoming concerts, albums, and announcements. Facebook this a very difficult process though.
For years, Facebook has been charging bands and pages to make sure all of their fans get to see all of their posts. They’re charging a king’s ransom for each post, especially for bands with larger amounts of fans. Some bands have reported being charged over $2000 per sponsored post. Without paying though, their posts only reach a small fraction of their fans.
Christopher Murray, vocalist of Illuminate Me has started a petition toward Facebook for them to change their sponsored post policies. In less than a day, the petition has over 14,000 signatures.
Facebook is an excellent way for bands to reach their fans, but they shouldn’t make bands pay for fans that they already worked hard for. To find out more and to sign the petition, follow the link below.
