We have begged. We have dreamed. We have hoped. And just as we started to give up. It finally happened. On February 9th Sony announced that the next spiderman film will be co produced by Marvel set for July 28th 2017. Finally bringing siderman back into the Marvel cinematic universe. Before they do that they have agreed to have spiderman appear in an unspecified Marvel film.
What this means for Sony: Sony always finds a way to stay in the spotlight and just as The Interview release drama died down ths news releases. Finally giving the fans what we have all been begging for. Winning back the die hard Marvel fans who shunned away Sony for restricting Marvel from the world of spiderman. Offering access to spiderman in return benefits spiderman films as well. Leaving potential easter eggs and avenger cameos will sky rocket the box office results. Could we see some avengers offer a helping hand in the upcoming Sinister Six flm?
What this means for Marvel: With the first Avengers film taking place in New York and there being no spiderman in sight was one of the obstacles they had to work around. New York beng spidermans home field it was hard to make sense he wouldn’t come up to help. Now that the studios are teaming up. Marvel no longer has to fill in the void of not having spiderman. He has such a key role in the comics that it was going to be interesting how they would have told the story without him.
What this means for us: We get to see spiderman how it was meant to be told. We get to see him along side the avengers. We get some of our favorite superheros joining spidey in his franchise and we get to enjoy even better possibilities for the marvel cinematic universe.
I this it? Could we see a team up with X-men? Could the Fantastic Four make an appearance in a marvel film? We can only hope this is just the start of a new friendship with the two studios.
