Coffeehouse will be held in the FHN Learning Commons from Feb. 26-27 during the school day. Coffee House is a student performance event that includes spoken word performances, musical performances, and live art.
“We have to transform this place into a Coffeehouse,” Media Specialist Angie Davis said. “There’s book display, art display, an audience, a mic and a keyboard.”
FHN has been hosting Coffeehouse since 2004 which consisted of 26 acts, whereas this year there’s 24. Students and teachers enjoyed the first Coffeehouse, and since then it’s stuck.
“My favorite part of Coffee House definitely has to be seeing all the talent that the students have,” Davis said.
Auditions for Coffee House were on Feb. 3 in the Learning Commons where students prepared a song, poem, story or something else that expresses them and performed it for the librarians.
“I auditioned because I’ve been playing music for years and I wanted to finally perform for people,” performer Audrey Baker said.
Students get to visit the Coffee House during their English class on either Thursday or Friday, and performers get to stay the whole day on whichever day they’re assigned.
“My favorite part of coffee house is being able to get out of class and being able to watch all the talented people perform,” sophomore Emily Henry said.
