Day 1: The Rise of Rise Records
Rise Records has been a huge name in the record company industry for a long time, but for awhile, they were more of a joke than anything. Every band signed to the label was lumped into the category of “Risecore” and no one took the bands seriously. This became especially prevalent after YouTuber “BlankTV” from band Galactic Pegasus posted the following video parodying Rise bands.
How to Get Signed to Rise Records! – Galactic Pegasus
The jokes about Risecore bands have been flying for several years, but recently they have been dwindling. Rise Records is steadily becoming one of the biggest names in the alternative music scene. Bands such as Silverstein, Dance Gavin Dance, Miss May I, and many more. These bands are bringing the good name of Rise Records back.
For awhile, bands like Attack Attack!, Breathe Carolina, and Sleeping With Sirens cluttered the lineup and caused a majority of the jokes. Of course there were solid heavy bands on the list like The Devil Wears Prada, The Plot in You, and Of Machines, but they were overshadowed and looked down upon because of the Risecore bands.
Every day in the comments section of Absolute Punk, there is less and less hate for Rise Records. This is a great sign for the record label and all of the bands on it. They will be able to be taken more seriously and fans are getting less shame for enjoying these bands.
Day 2: Silverstein Releases New Song and Lyric Video
