On Thursday, March 26, FHN’s Intensified Theatre performed two one-act plays: Dear Diary and We Live as We Learn. The performances got a lot of positive feedback from both students and staff.
“We got positive feedback from students and teachers that came down to see them, and most of the people who came down to see the one-acts really enjoyed it,” sophomore Alyssa Stinson said.
Both of the plays were written, directed and acted by students in Intensified Theatre.
“I really liked the fact that we did it all. Mrs. Sulzner didn’t help us very much and it was directed by a student, written by students, and acted by students,” senior Maya Kelch said.
The plays on Thursday were only a small part of what Intensified Theatre does as a group. The group of students are very cohesive and cooperative with each other and interact in many activities outside of the classroom.
“It takes drama club very seriously and it prepares for a career in theatre, and even if some of us don’t want a career in theatre, it prepares us for life after high school,” Stinson said.
Intensified Theatre works hard at the productions they put on, but they also put a big emphasis on the educational and curricular aspects of the class in order to make the students better at performing.
“I think my favorite thing about it was, before we did the performance we did some research. Going into it, having done all the research and everything, gave us a better knowledge of what we were doing and made us better performers,” Thielbar said.
The two plays on Thursday were only one example of how the group works together as a team to accomplish what they want to.
“I’m surrounded by a lot of people that actually know what they are doing and it’s just a good atmosphere,” Thielbar said. “I know I’m around hard working people who are going to produce something excellent.”
