FHN Knightsound travelled to Universal Studios in Los Angeles to compete in their annual Heritage Choir Festival competition. They sponsor festivals for choirs and bands all across the country. They have competed for the past eight years in competitions around the country. This are first time travelling to Los Angeles.
They performed the Medley of Motown, the musical, which they learned for their Dinner Concert performance back in October.
“The best part about performing our show in Los Angeles was getting first place and being able to experience it with all my friends,” senior Jordan Short said.
They spent two days in the Universal Studios tourist attraction. They travelled to Venice Beach. They took a 6.4 mile hike up to the famous Hollywood sign. They also had dinner at the famous Saddle Ranch Chop House on the Sunset Strip.
“I enjoyed taking the hike up to the Hollywood sign and looking out on the city below,” said junior Luke Wussler.
The Knightsound Choir placed first in their competition at Calabasas High School. Adrianna Bartholomew, a member of Knightsound, competed in a solo competition with her piece called “Dancing in the Streets” where she received the Maestro Award for best solo.
“My favorite part of traveling to Los Angeles would be competing with my family because that’s really what Knightsound is.” said Bartholomew. “I love singing and dancing with them and getting to perform our show for others.”
