InVogue Records has quite the artist repertoire, stacking bands such as Hawthorne Heights, Hotel Books, Being As An Ocean, and many more. Their most recent artist is the wildly talented 19 year old singer-songwriter Chase Huglin.
“I got signed on to InVogue in late March. Honestly, I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been a big fan of them for years now. They were the only label I submitted to, and honestly when I sent over the link to my upcoming release, I remember just laughing thinking ‘Yeah, right.’ But I woke up the next morning with an email from Nick saying that he was interested in working with me,” Chase Huglin said in an email.
Huglin has been playing music since he was a freshman in high school and has basically been performing ever since. He played his first acoustic set in 2011 after him and his old band To the Point had a falling out.
“Once I got my guitar is when I really started to write. My first instrument was the drums and I later moved on to piano, not quite sure when I ended up with a guitar but I’m glad I did. I put out my first solo release in 2012 called Ad Astra and it was a train wreck,” Huglin said.
Huglin is set to release his new ep titled “Glow” very soon and is leaving for tour on April 30. The tour will consist of 10 stops all throughout the west. “Glow” was recorded very quickly and with Mat Kerekes, vocalist of Citizen.
“We recorded it in two days. So much fun, kind of stressful. The second day of recording, I stayed the night at Mat’s house. We were getting ready to leave his house for the studio and my car battery was dead, so we had to call Triple A, and that kind of put a time restraint on the vocals but we figured it out,” Huglin said.
Many independent artists don’t get the same break that Huglin got. He has advice for these artists though.
“Just tour. I used to be so scared of the fact that I would have to quit my job to have to tour. Then one day I got fed up, put in a two week notice and two weeks later I was on 25 day tour, If you want to do something and spend all day daydreaming about it, you should probably just do it,” Huglin said.
“Glow” is available for digital download on April 28. To support Chase, make sure you download the album from the link below!
