On Friday April 24, Junior Trey Pettit broke the school shot put record with a shot of 57 feet.
“We always knew Trey had the ability to do what he did Friday,” Throwing Coach John Brune said when asked about Trey breaking the record. “He has been working really hard on his technique.”
Pettit broke the record at the annual Fred Lyons Invitational meet held at Parkway North. Trey finished first in the meet and is currently ranked fourth in the state in shot put. Trey realizes he now has a good chance at competing for a state medal.
“I hope top three at state,” Pettit said when asked about his chances at state. “I hope I just medal at state really.”
Trey broke the old school record, 54 feet 6 inches, 2.5 feet. The next meet Trey and the entire Howell North Track team will be competing at will be the Lutheran High School meet on April 28 at 3:30 p.m.
