As the year winds down, a lot of clubs start to see the end of their year as a club too. With prom in full swing most other clubs take a timeout to reflect on the year. One of those clubs, who has been heavily involved in the school year is StuCo. Doing things like putting together the Homecoming dance, TOTS, and the Snowcoming dance.
“We have worked really hard on a lot of stuff this year like homecoming,” senior Gabe Grote said. “We really set our minds to it and we have accomplished a lot. Some things like Mock Rock are just harder to do sometimes but I hope they see an increase in numbers next year because it’s a lot of fun.”
But just because the school year is coming to a close doesn’t mean that the club is done. This past week StuCo held their annual officer elections. Voting was set up during lunches and all students were allowed to partake in the event. Following the elections the officers chosen for the 2015-2016 school year are Nicole Morse as President, Kristen Metts as Vice President, Baylie Clynes as Treasurer, Jamie Hetlage as Secretary and Grant Freitas as Parliamentarian.
“I am super excited about being with all the great people that are in StuCo,” Metts said. “Homecoming is going to be so much fun since it’s my senior year. I just want to have fun and make the most of it while it lasts.”
The club has their annual end of the year breakfast coming up on Wednesday, April 29 during homeroom. Student who are a part of the club are welcome to join the meeting for breakfast food. New officers will be inaugurated into office and the group will also pick next years Homecoming theme.
“I am really excited to be an officer next year because I get to work with a great group of people and do something that benefits the school as a whole,” Freitas said.
