With prom coming up for the 2014-2015 school year, TASC (Teens Advocating Smart Choices) has done their pre-prom assembly. The pre-prom assembly is intended to remind students to make good choices by not drinking and driving on the night of prom.
Normally, TASC will reenact a drunk driving accident with police and firefighters involved. Although this year, while there is a wrecked car outside, there was no reenactment.
“Because seniors always see it at their second prom assembly, we decided to do it every other year so they don’t have to see the same thing twice,” said Business teacher Mim Eaton.
Meanwhile, NFL rams player Isaac Bruce planned to award Kacey Tatum With a $5000 dollar scholarship that she had one, but also took the opportunity to not only award Kacey Tatum with her scholarship, but to make an appearance to speak to the junior and senior class.
“His agent got a hold of Kacey’s guidance counselor to award Kacey her scholarship,” said Eaton. “It just so happened that it was perfect timing for him to show up at our assembly.”
Following the speech’s, Marissa Meyers and Audrianna Bartholomew performed a duet singing “For Good” from the musical Wicked, followed by juniors and seniors playing games and activities while wearing impairment goggles.
“We played it at the Knights of the Round Table, and Ms.Eaton wanted us to perform it again,” said Bartholomew. “It sort of tied in with parting ways.”
Overall, the assembly was a success, and a learning experience for TASC.
“There’s always things to Improve,” said TASC member Elise Gertsch. “This is the only year TASC has had anything to do with the pre-prom pep assembly, and it’s a learning process.”
