FHN had the annual KOE picnic on Thursday, April 30. The KOE picnic is an event in which students with certain accomplishments can go outside during their sixth and seventh hours to hang out with their friends, enjoy games, inflatables, food and more. To get invited to the picnic, you must have perfect attendance, honor roll, be a mentor or achieve student of the week. Those who were in KOE got to leave class sooner than most students to help prepare and set up for the picnic.
“It was pretty fun to help out,” said KOE member Lauren Wood, “I got to leave class fourth hour and be gone fifth and sixth hour.”
Students who went outside did activities such as racing on an inflatable obstacle course, throwing footballs and frisbees around, eating food, and some students just walked the track or sat down with their friends.
During the picnic, there were some issues with the generators for two of the inflatables, leaving them unusable, leaving some students disappointed.
“The generators kept going out, so they would deflate, then inflate, and deflate again,” KOE member Anna Livingstone said.
KOE prepared for the picnic by meeting one morning a week throughout the year. They then had one more meeting before everyone was released to go outside, to go over a few things and remind people what they were doing.
“It was a lot of fun,” Sophomore Savannah Adkisson said. “They had a lot of fun activities.”
