On Monday, the Varsity Boys Soccer team opened their season about 40 minutes away in Imperial to face off against the Owls of Windsor High School. The result was a convincing 4-0 win for the Knights.
“We played together as a team,” senior Isaias Alvarado said. “And that led to a win.”
The first half started off relatively slow for the Knights, until about halfway through the half when the Knights got a corner that landed on junior Jon Zettwoch’s foot that made the game 1-0 for the Knights.
“I was so excited to be able to have the first goal this season and help my team bring home a win on the first game,” Zettwoch said. “And I hope to be able to help my team bring home some more wins.”
When the whistle blew to start the second half, the Knights were in complete control. Sophomore Alex Long put away three quality finishes to put the Knights up by four. One of the only times the FHN keeper, junior Fletcher Dietrich, was called into action was when a Windsor midfielder put the ball through, but Dietrich was quick off of his line to clear the ball away. The Knights next game is at home today at 4:30 against Lafayette.
“It was a good game,” Long said. “We passed well and kept possession.”
