Loufest will be held Sept. 12 and 13 downtown in Forest Park. Loufest is a two-day music festival where bands and artists come and play to thousands of people. Past bands and artists have included The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Walk the Moon and Icona Pop. This year will include people such as The Avett Brothers, Hozier, Ludacris and Young The Giant.

“I’m most excited to see Young The Giant,” sophomore Devyn Meyer said. “I’ve listened to them for a very long time and they’re a really good band, so it’s cool that I’ll finally be able to hear them live.”

Tickets for Loufest are usually $95 for a two-day pass, but this year there was an early bird sale before the lineup was released where tickets were sold for only $50. Once the lineups were released, there were many who were very disappointed. Although people are excited for the headliners such as Young The Giant, Hozier and Ludacris, many are disappointed with the line out this year, so much so that many have decided to sell their tickets.

“I sold my tickets this year because I was disappointed in this year’s lineup,” senior Lauren Wood said. “Compared to previous years the lineup lacked bands and a major headliner that interested me.”

Even though many were upset with the lineup, and it didn’t live up to some of the expectations people had, many decided to keep their tickets and to just go for the experience. Many are going just to be with friends and people who have similar music interests, and some are going in hope of hearing a band they like that they may not have heard before.

“This year there were a lot of people who were upset with the lineup which is understandable,” senior Tommy Watts said. “From the viewpoint of having Arctic Monkeys, Outkast, The 1975, Matt and Kim, Cake and so many other bands last year, this year can’t really compare to what we had last year. This year the only names I can remember are Hozier and Billy Idol.”

The people who are attending Loufest are also praying for good weather, saying they were worried because of how hot and humid it has been recently. However, they are in luck; the forecast for the weekend is sunny and cool. Be sure to check the Loufest website for the entire lineup, the schedule of what bands play when, and tips for the weekend.
