Students Participate In Powder Puff

Students participated in the traditional powder puff game at FHN on Sept. 16 where the girls were competitive, the guys were entertaining and the class of 2016 took home the winning title for the second year in a row.
All the planning and organizing for Powder Puff is done by Knights of Excellence, which is a club here at FHN. One huge part of this event is getting people to become involved with the activity. As a result, it is KOE’s job to get students interested and involved.
“It sounded really fun, and I watched my sister play both years she did it,” junior Sami Weyhrich said.
Powder Puff is an event held every year during homecoming week for juniors and seniors. Students are very competitive when it comes to this game, and homecoming week becomes a huge battle between the junior and the senior class.
“I think it’s a fun activity, and it’s fun to see how excited the girls and guys get and how serious they get about a game that doesn’t mean anything,” KOE Sponsor Diane Holmes said.
Some students claim the game is rigged so that the seniors will win. Holmes states that she does not think that the game is rigged and if it is, she knows nothing about it. The senior class has only lost two times in Holmes’s eight year career of planning Powder Puff.
“I think the seniors should win only if they deserve to,” Rachel Elder said. “I don’t think it should be rigged.”
With all the planning and organizing that comes along with Powder Puff, the teachers and students are competitive and entertaining when it comes to the game. It’s one way for juniors and seniors to become involved with their class and have the opportunity compete against their Powder Puff rivals.
