On Friday, October 9, the FHN varsity girls’ volleyball team will be facing the Fort Zumwalt East Lions at the Lions’ home court at 5 p.m. The last time the Knights faced Zumwalt East was in districts last year where they won 2-0.
“We usually do pretty well against East,” senior Baylie Clynes said. “I think we will come out strong, especially as we are getting closer to the end of our season. A bunch of us are pushing to win as much as we can.”
The Knights have a record of 8-16 so far this season. They are hoping to add on some more wins as the season draws to a close. The Lions are currently 10-10 in their season.
“I’m looking forward to the game because I think it will be an intense one,” junior Bekah Fincke said. “I expect us to come together as a team, fight as hard as possible, and really have our minds set.”
The team has been working on specific areas in practice in order to improve. They worked a lot on serve receive and defense to prepare for Friday’s game. The team feels well prepared to take on the Lions.
“A win on Friday would be important because we haven’t won a game in a week or two and we need something to give us some confidence going into districts,” Finckes said.
