EA Releases FIFA 16 Featuring Improvements in Series

By Anthony Kristensen

Soccer players rejoice; we finally have our game. FIFA 16 came out, but there is always the same questions with this glorious franchise: what makes this one worth buying? Is it any better than FIFA 15?

Well, I’m here to tell you that if you decide to pick this game up, you certainly won’t be disappointed. Every year, EA seems to take it to the next level and they’ve certainly taken a step or two up since the release of the last edition of the FIFA franchise.

The graphics in FIFA 15 are amazing, but comparing them to the graphics of 16, they look no better than any of the pieces of “art” that I made in Intro to Art last year, and trust me, those weren’t anything special. EA also put incredible detail into the game, such as the hair on the men and women flying around as they sprint down the field. Also, during the pre-game introductions, you can see the incredible details EA puts into the design and the players. You can see the indents of the socks and can even see the eyes of the players pan over the crowd in attendance.

One of the main critiques I had for FIFA 15 was that the field got far too worn out, far too fast. This is not a problem in 16, as the field is worn out almost as it would be in real life. Also, when you concede or receive a free kick, you can see the sprayed on lines placed by the referee to keep the defenders and the ball where they are supposed to be. There’s even a feeling of a home field advantage, as the home crowd can be heard doing specific chants and they even try to distract the away team player as they prepare to take a corner.

The gameplay itself is very smooth and far superior to that of FIFA 15. As you play, be sure to keep the ball, as it is significantly more difficult to win it back.

Even though there are some minor errors that will surely be fixed in coming updates, this game is bound to be a classic. If you go to pick up FIFA 16, you won’t be disappointed.
