The Varsity Girls Softball season ended on Oct. 17. Their record was 13-11 before starting districts. The girls thought the season was successful overall.
“We had a great season, but didn’t finish the way we wanted to,” junior and starting catcher Allison Murphy said.
The season goes from Aug. to Oct., where they play multiple games and tournaments. The season started off good at the Parkway Tournament where they won 2 of their 4 games
One of their other main tournaments was the Francis Howell Central Tournament. They didn’t do as good at this tournament, but they continued to improve from there.
“We lost to a team we could’ve beat,” Murphy recalls.
The girls won GAC’s, which took them to districts, then taking them to sectionals. Unfortunately, they lost at sectionals, ending their season against Marquette. It was still a great run because the girls varsity team hadn’t won districts in a long time.
Winning districts was Murphy’s favorite moment of the season. “We played a great game and it was one of the happiest moments of my life”.
“I think they had a good season,” junior Jessica Gardner said. Gardner was on JV but was called up as a backup pitcher for districts. “I’m really proud of them. Especially at the end.”
