When it comes to car enthusiasts, you have those that adore classic cars, Japanese imports, European exotics and more. In this edition of Car of the Week, we will be looking at junior Avery Bond’s love for American muscle, and in particular his 2000 Ford Mustang convertible.

Bond had bought the car on Aug. 6 this year, a week or so before the start of the semester. “We found it through my mechanic who had been working on it for the last ten years,” Bond said. “The mechanic referred us to the owner and we bought it from him, which is great because we know it has been in good hands and taken care of.” Other than having a roof that leaks slightly in the rain, the car is in surprisingly good condition, considering the car itself is 15 years old.

“Owning a convertible is fun,” Bond said. “It’s nice on hot and sunny days, but not cold and rainy days.” Convertibles are getting less and less popular nowadays, something that may come as a surprise to many. Going for a casual weekend cruise in your convertible, roof down, exposed to the elements, is surely an experience so many people are missing out on, which is really quite a shame.

“The car’s great, other than the fact I’d like some more power,” Bond said. “Who wouldn’t want a great big V8 with boat-loads of power.”
