Car Talk: Performance Air Filters
Published: November 20, 2015
Air filters in cars protect your engine from ingesting dirt and other particles through the air intake. Stock air filters in most cars are quite restrictive and do not provide the maximum available intake of air to your engine. The simple way of explaining this is that the more oxygen an engine gets, the better it will run.
A cheap and easy way of increasing your engine output would be to install an aftermarket high-flow air filter, which allow more air through into the engine.
K&N is the most well-known and widely used brand of performance air filters. Their comprehensive line of products are compatible with almost every vehicle on the market today.
Fitting a filter takes between 2-10 minutes, depending on the vehicle. Check your owners manual for instructions on how to replace the engine air filter.
