The Lady Knights varsity basketball team had their first game on Nov. 30, 2015. It was against Fort Zumwalt North and the knights won with a score of 39-36. This was just one of the first games to be held at the Orchard Farm Tournament.
“We did pretty good. It was my first game as a freshman for varsity. I was a little bit nervous, but I think I played right. It’s a good team; good defense,” freshman Gabby Delarue said.
The game was really close, with the Lady Knights trailing for most of the game. It went back and forth between the Lady Knights winning, FZN winning, and being tied. Point guard, Austine Pauley scored the most points.
“They are doing so good! We really came out with a bang and we hit it out of the park in our first game against Fort Zumwalt North,” senior varsity manager Madi Oostendorp said.
The Lady Knights record last year was 9-16. The next game will be held on Wednesday as a continuation of the Orchard Farm Tournament. The Lady Knights will face off against Duchesne at 5.
“I’m real excited about the season. I think we’ve got a chance to be pretty good this year,” coach Jamal Thompson said.
