“The Martian” Movie Review
Published: December 8, 2015
During a manned mission to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is struck by a metal rod, causing the crew to assume he was dead, and leaving him on Mars. Watney soon wakes up and realizes he has to find a way to survive on Mars with a limited supply of essential items. Watney uses his botany skills to his advantage and creates a 400-plant potato farm inside the space station. While this solves the food problem, his ultimate goal is to contact NASA so he can tell them he’s still alive. Watney travels every day to look for resources that could help him survive, and he finds some important items. Watney faces challenges along the way, but it seems like he always has a way to fix them.
From a cinematic standpoint, this film was very good. The cinematography was amazing; almost making you feel like you’re in the movie. Matt Damon did a great job of acting in this movie, cracking jokes but also being serious about his mission. The best thing about this film for me was that you feel like you’re in it. Due to the amazing cinematography, great acting, and overall feeling of being in the movie, I give it an 8.5/10.
