On Tuesday Jan. 12, the Varsity Lady Knights swim team faced off against Francis Howell Vikings and Timberland. The Lady Knights were defeated. The girls knew that the meet was going to be tougher than past meets and they knew they were going to have to work much harder in each event.
“A lot of my teammates were prepared to not do as well as we normally do but they were having fun too,” Sophomore Anna Lindquists said.
The team practices each night and knew that facing Howell and Timberland was not going to be easy and there was no room to slack off.
“Crow really works us hard in practice and doesn’t cut us much slack,” Senior Lauren Bartram said. Our practices are difficult and that’s how I felt prepared to do my best.”
In past meets, the team has be unmotivated and they feel that they lack confidence has affected them throughout the season.
“We should have been more optimistic,” Senior Libby Lassanske said.
The team also lacked a diver to help them add to the score of the overall meet. This affected the score and their attitude because they knew they would have to make the points up in the relays.
“We were hoping to not get beaten by that many points,” Lindquists said.
The next event for the Lady Knights will be Thurs., Jan. 21 at the YMCA against St. Charles High school. The team hopes to do much better and have a new, positive attitude for this next meet.
“I don’t think I’d make any changes personally or as a team but I think we’ll come out with more positive attitude,” Bartram said.
