FHN JV Boys’ Basketball team plays in Fort Zumwalt North’s basketball tournament starting Jan. 25. All of the players are practicing and getting ready for the big games. Each player has individual things they have to work on if they are going to want to do good in the games.
“Physically, we’re going to run through plays, put up shots, work on defense,” sophomore Evan Gallagher said. “Mentally, I think coming off a couple loses we’re gonna focus on the next game and play to the best of our potential.”
People may underestimate the JV team for not being the best, but they all give and put in their full potential.
“I’m not a big basketball fan but I like to go to some of the games that are not varsity and show school spirit that is not varsity,” sophomore Jordan Chapple said. “The JV team has their wins and their losses but they always play and try their best.”
Even if the team loses a game, they always try to stay positive and try to fix what what they think they messed up.
“I feel confident we can come out on top if we play to the best of our ability. We just need to focus and play as a team,” Gallagher said. The whole team is close and helps each other with their flaws and if they have an open mind they can win the tournament and come out on top.
No matter what happens with the tournament, there will always be another one to look forward to and the more tournaments they play in the more practice they get. They would rather focus on what they did wrong and what they need to improve on then just a win. A win to them is fixing their mistakes and getting better by their practice and hard work.
