The FHN girls swimming team competed in a tri-meet against Liberty and St. Dominic on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the Rec Plex. The Knights lost to Liberty.
“I think we could’ve finished stronger in this meet,” senior Libby Lassanske said. “Overall, we’ve had a really good season. We have really improved a lot over the meets.”
The girls swimming team honored the seniors for senior night at this meet. The team honored them with senior medals, flowers and having their parents with them. Each senior wrote their plan for next year and what they liked about the season to be announced. The seniors that were recognized were Lauren Bartram, Claire Boenitz, Jennifer Byman, Emily Floyd, Sam Heupel, and Libby Lassanske.
“I liked senior night because the team made us feel so special,” senior Lauren Bartram said. “They made a tunnel with their kickboards and gave us flowers.”
The girls swim team has their final regular meet of the season on Thursday, Feb. 4 against Fort Zumwalt North at the Rec Plex. They officially conclude their season with GACs held on Feb. 9, 10, and 11.
According to Coach Chip Crow, the Knights have really improved over the season. “Some of our beginning swimmers have really improved with their strength and stroke abilities,” Crow said. “The team really enjoys being around one another.”
