TASC Raises Money for Drug Awareness

By Bree Williams

FHN’s Teens Advocating Smart Choices (TASC) club raised $101 for Walking for Wellness. This organization works to raise heroin awareness in the St. Charles County area. TASC had a sucker pull Feb. 10 and 11. Students could donate money and would receive a sucker. On the bottom of some of the lollipops, there were red dots. This meant that the student who chose that sucker won a t-shirt or a candy bar.

“The whole group came up with it,” said club sponsor Brook Magilligan.  “We wanted to raise money for drug awareness. We thought this would be a good way to rally people up.”

The club is soon hosting an event at Francis Howell Central. FHN’s TASC club will be joining other TASC groups for an addiction awareness rally on April 23. Guest speakers will be discussing addition problems currently facing teenagers.

“My personal goal is to help people out who may have the bullies in their school,” said freshman Carson Hackney. “I’m excited to help people get back on their feet. The less people addicted to drugs, the better.”
