The FHN boy’s and girl’s track teams kicked off the 2016 season with their first day of practice on Feb. 29th. To get ready for their first meet on March 21 against FHHS and FHC, the athletes have been preparing with hard workouts every day after school.
“Our team goal is to send a few people to state and hopefully win a few meets,” junior Bryan Chac said. “I think it will be pretty hard to improve from last year because we had a good team last year, but if everyone continues to work hard we can improve.”
The Knights practice every day after school in order to prepare for the upcoming season. According to Chac, practice usually consists of alternating between distance runs and workouts on the track. The end of every practice consists of core and upper body conditioning.
“This season I’m just excited to see a whole new group of people come out and see how they do,” junior Nic Savala said. “Improving from last season will be hard because we have lost so many seniors and others who have just left the team but you never know how the newcomers and returners will perform, so it will be interesting.”
The first meet is on March 21 at FHN. Some upcoming meets after that include the Knight Relays on April 1 at FHN and the FHN boy’s tournament on April 6 at FHN.
