On Monday, March 27, the FHN Knights boy’s tennis team will be squaring off against the Fort Zumwalt North Panthers. The match will be held at the FHN courts starting at 3:30 p.m. The FHN boy’s record so far this season is 1-1. This is a disappointment, considering they were undefeated last year in the regular season. The team doesn’t expect to lose any more matches.
“This year we are going to have to win by outsmarting the other teams. Before, we beat our opponents just with athleticism. Now I think we need to get a little smarter with our shots,” said tennis coach Kate Kleiber.
According to Kleiber, this starts with the serves. She has really been focusing on serves this year with the guys, constantly asking them where they are aiming. If they aim their serve in the right spot, they set up the whole point to their advantage.
“I think we will have a good chance of going 9-0 or 8-1 team as a whole against Fort Zumwalt North,” said senior Will Stephens. “As long as Zohaib exists within the team, there is no way for us to go down without a fight. The presence of Zohaib provides us with spiritual focus and perseverance”.
“The match against FZN is going to be one of our easier matchups this season,” said senior Colin Griffin. “And even though we had lost to Howell we are still going to have a successful season, we just need to adjust to our new roles on the team this year.”
