“10 Cloverfield Lane” Movie Review

By Kyle Cuppy

A young woman named Michelle (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) gets into an argument with her boyfriend Ben, packs her stuff and leaves their house. Driving far away, Michelle gets call after call from her boyfriend wanting to know what’s going on. After declining the calls, she gets distracted and gets in a car accident but is rescued by Howard Stambler (John Goodman).

Eventually waking up, Michelle finds herself hooked up to an IV in a very small room with no windows and one big door. Not knowing where she’s at or why she’s there, she gets a visit from Howard, who explains to her that there was an attack, and a big one.

Howard explains the attack to Michelle and tells her everyone outside is dead, but she isn’t buying it. She listens to Howard but also starts planning ways to escape.

After a few attempts to escape, she always ends up back in the bunker. She realizes to escape and figure out what happened she is going to have to use a lot more force than she used before.

This film has a very strong story and keeps you on the edge of your seat through the whole movie. Along with a good story, the camera work and cinematography was amazing. There were lots of really cool, beautiful looking shots that made the film that much better.

John Goodman did a spectacular job with this role, making it that much more realistic. The other actors did a great job as well, including Emmett (John Gallagher Jr.). Overall I give this film a 9/10 for having a good story, great cinematography and flawless acting.
