FHN Gets New Gym Floor

Starting this school year, FHN has a renovated gym floor. The talk of putting in the new floor began in June, after the floor was weakened by flooding from gym ceiling back in January. Many changes were made to the floor including a new GAC logo, a bigger knights crest, a lighter stain and white lanes.
“I wanted to change the design for a better aesthetic and give it a more clean, natural look,” Activities Director Mike Janes said.
Once they started planning what the new floor looked like, Janes was emailing the company, Missouri Flooring, back and forth trying to get a design that would fit his vision for the gym.
“I think the student body will like the new gym floors because the team will be able to practice longer and harder on the floor which will improve the team,” senior Elijah Kelly said.
The floor was fully covered by insurance, costing FHN nothing. The renovations to the floor began in late June and were completed five weeks later in July. The floor will be used by the volleyball and basketball teams during their seasons.
“The floor is more of a pride thing, so far we’ve heard nothing but positive things about the floor,” Janes said.” It’s something that will last for many years to come.”
