On September 13, JV Knights lost to Troy’s Trojans at FHN with a score of 1-16. It was a game that tested the character of the Knights. Maddie Krus pitched the entire game with Payton Mauldin as her catcher. At the end of the first inning, the score was 0-0, and at the end of the second inning, the score was 0-3.
“We were playing well until the last inning, then everything kind of fell apart. The good thing is we get another chance tomorrow.” Junior Maddie Krus said.
The Knights then played very tight defense and for the third and fourth inning held the Trojans to a score of 0-4. Through the tough last inning, the Knights stayed positive and kept cheering each other on as the score difference became greater. The run made for the Knights started with a triple from Lily St. John then she was able to steal home plate.
“We played well in the beginning but Troy just started hitting the ball where we weren’t and there we could really do about it except stay focused and not give up.” Sophomore Paige Westermann said.
