After coming off a season high last year, the girls softball team faces a new district bracket and new competition. The team is currently seeded first, and districts are being held at Francis Howell North on Oct. 5-7.
“I’m really excited that we switched districts,” senior Allison Murphy said. “Our new district is against teams that I really think we can beat. We are seeded number one; we should be really good.”
The class 4 district 5 teams include FHN, Ladue, Parkway Central, Parkway North, Pattonville and Ritenour. The team ended the regular season with a record of 11-6. This season, the team has gotten first place in the Ballwin tournament.
“I am excited to see how far we go this year,” senior Mikayla Theros said. “I think we have a pretty good chance if we work.”
Last year, the varsity team won districts and sectionals to move onto state. This year, the girls are determined to make it to state, and their possibilities are high.
“I think we have done really well this season compared to the past seasons,” junior Skylar Ruiz said. “We have had ups and downs and we weren’t always in it to win it, but we definitely pull through and I think we’re a strong team, and I can see us going far in districts and maybe even winning state. I am mostly excited to see how far we actually get in districts. We are hosting this year and if we compete like we did in the Ballwin tournament, we’re going to do super well this year.”
