The Fangirl Life: Tom Hiddleston
Published: October 5, 2016
Tom Hiddleston is an actor well known for his role of Loki in Marvel in Thor released 2011, Avengers released 2012, and Thor the Dark World released 2013. Coming up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Thor Ragnarok in which Loki will also make an appearance, set to come out in 2017. He’s also been in a BBC show called The Night Manager and another called The Hollow Crown. His recent movies include Crimson Peak, High-Rise, I Saw the Light and Muppets Most Wanted. Upcoming, he has Thor Ragnarok and Kong: Skull Island.
The role he was in that surprised me most was in the Disney film The Pirate Fairy in which he played a character named James. When I picture Tom Hiddleston, I picture Loki, a villain and antihero. I don’t picture a pirate in an animated movie. It’s kind of the exact opposite of what I’d expect. I have yet to see The Pirate Fairy, Midnight in Paris and War Horse among some of his more recent films, but I have high hopes they’ll be movies I’ll watch over and over again.
What I love most about him is the way he portrays this diverse set of characters. Loki is one extreme and Captain Nicholls is a completely different extreme. His public persona is also polar opposite from Loki’s personality. He seems to be able to separate himself from the character while becoming the character at the same time.
