Kristen DiCarlo was promoted from freshman Class Delegate sponsor to senior Class Delegate sponsor this year. Due to budget cuts the freshman class lost the ability to have a sponsor and the senior class didn’t have a sponsor at all. DiCarlo, being the freshman Class Delegate sponsor before budget cuts, was given the opportunity to become the senior Class Delegate sponsor.

“I was the freshman class sponsor, but they got rid of that because of budget cuts,” Dicarlo said. “I was disappointed when I got cut, but excited when I became the senior class sponsor.”

DiCarlo has taught at FHN for ten years and has had the chance to meet many students through her classes. DiCarlo says one part of being a Class Delegate sponsor she most enjoys is meeting new students outside of the classroom. Shortly after becoming the senior Class Delegate sponsor, DiCarlo was planning the Homecoming hallway. DiCarlo explained helping the senior delegates decorate the hall as exciting and time consuming.

“This is her first year being the senior Class Delegate sponsor, so there’s more to do,” senior Gianna Sulzner said. “She was really thrown into it since we didn’t even have a sponsor until two weeks before homecoming.”

DiCarlo was picked to become the senior Class Delegate sponsor after being interviewed and asked questions about: what her future plans might be, why she was a good fit to become the senior class delegate sponsor and how well she communicates. DiCarlo felt her being picked for the senior class resulted from her experience as a sponsor and good communication skills.

“She is definitely a good choice to be any Class Delegate sponsor,” senior Jessica Jones said. “I’m glad she was chosen to become the senior class delegate sponsor because without her I’m not sure we’d have a sponsor right now.”
