This year, FHN’s annual Trick or Treat Street will be more than just fun and games. Student Council will be donating half of the money raised during the event to help pay for the medical expenses of Elizabeth Stallings. Stallings was rushed to the hospital on the first day of school after experiencing major heart palpitations. She was later diagnosed with a rare heart condition known as ARVC, which affects approximately 1 in every 2,500 people worldwide.

“I feel like we are doing some good towards the community,” Student Council president Grant Freitas said. “I think it’s really cool what we are doing for a fellow student because if I was in that situation, I would want the school’s support like she is getting.”

Traditionally, Student Council donates half of the profits from Trick or Treat Street to a charity around the St.Louis area. This year, when the council voted on what to donate the money towards, the Stallings cause won by a landslide. The other half of the funds raised will go towards Student Council.

”I think it is wonderful that we chose a cause so close to home,” senior Rachel Arena said. “It allows us to firsthand experience the effects of our support.”

Trick or Treat Street will be held on Oct. 28 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. Many clubs will be hosting rooms with activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and inflatable activities. There will be refreshments in the Commons, and the hallways will be filled with Halloween decorations. The cost to attend is $2 per person.

“Everyone should come and bring their relatives because it’s a fun event and we want to raise a lot of money to help Elizabeth,” senior Yuri Takenaka said.
