A Mother Safe Haven: Cassie’s Story

Kamryn Bell, Reide Pearson and Taylor Sheridan

A Mothers Safe Haven is a rescue group that specializes in care for pregnant dogs and their puppies. Through this organization, the Carter family has fostered many dogs, including Cassie, the dog they are currently fostering. Even though Cassie is not pregnant or a puppy, they felt the need to help her. They are unsure of what exactly happened to Cassie. They believe she may have been abused, kicked out, and/or hit by a car. When they received her she was badly injured. It was very expensive for them to get everything she needed and continues to need. The Carters are one of many families that would be very grateful to receive donations. Donations may include: puppy food (nothing with red dye please), canned food, treats for the moms, puppy toys, Purex Laundry detergent, bleach, large heavy duty trash bags, small plastic pools, large non-tip stainless steel bowls, and donations for veterinary care, vaccinations, and wormer. With these donations, those involved in A Mothers Safe Haven can continue to give dogs a safe, happy life.

“I think it’s a program that has a great need in the community. The average person you see walking the streets thinks they know how hard it is in the rescue community. I don’t think anybody can really begin to imagine what it’s like out there until you’ve been involved,” said Suzie Carter.
