FHN Business Department Hosts Annual Job Fair

On January 11, FHN business marketing teacher, Mike Freedline, will host the annual Job Fair. Students will be able to practice interviewing skills as well as truly interview and apply for hiring businesses in the St. Charles area.
“I think the Job Fair is a great idea because there are a lot of kids that want jobs, but don’t really know how to go about it,” said senior, Marjorie Palmer. “It just brings everyone right in one place.”
Freedline began the Job Fair for students after searching for a way to promote the business department as well as to find a way to help students participating in the school’s work program. Students participating are able to leave school early, so the idea naturally fit. The fair helps students find jobs much more quickly and efficiently. Instead of students constantly searching for hiring businesses, hiring businesses are brought to the job-seeking students. Businesses of all kinds, from fast-food industries to companies hiring potential lifeguards, will be in attendance. All students from FHN, FHC and FHH will be able to participate in the fair.
“I think students could make great connections with many different places,” said junior Estefania Cruz-Casillo. “They can make very great connections there. They can also find themselves jobs or useful information about those places.”
All students from FHN, FHC, and FHH will be able to attend and can register to join the Job Fair by signing up with any business class teachers or in any lunch periods. The fair will be held after school ends at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the commons.
“I just want students to learn good interviewing skills from that professional feeling of going to a career job fair,” said Freedline. “Also networking skills, and they’ll also get skills on how to speak and greet to people, and just going through that whole interview process because it will soon be coming up in everyday situations.”
